Bertie should apologise for attack on tribunal

BARELY 24 hours after his announced resignation, I was very disturbed to hear Taoiseach Bertie Ahern describe the Mahon Tribunal as “low life”.

This tribunal succeeded in eliciting the truth from Gráinne Carruth. Mr Ahern is furious this happened and it may be the final nail in his coffin, along with the slush fund used to buy the Larkin house. So our Taoiseach is furious the truth was outed.

The tribunal was set up by the Dáil, which includes Mr Ahern.

If an ordinary person behaved like this, he or she would be in contempt of court.

No wonder there is a breakdown of law and order.

While he is still Taoiseach, Mr Ahern must return to the Dáil and apologise for his disturbing conduct.

Given all this, we are well rid of him.
