THE report on Met Éireann’s figures showing a comparatively mild winter, with the accompanying editorial (March 4), like most comment on climate change, assumes the facts are settled.

It remains only to cajole or chivvy reluctant institutions, vested interests and the public into taking “our responsibilities” seriously.

In fact, science is not of one voice and the dissenters are not all in the pay of the US petro-chemical industry.
