Consumers’ rights advert wins top award in Brussels

Devised by the Irish Financial Regulator to alert people to the differences between different mortgage and financial packages, the ad was judged the best financial information campaign in the EU. It featured bus passengers asking, “What’s a tracker mortgage” and other financial questions as part of the It’s Your Money internet campaign. It was chosen as the best Irish consumer information campaign earlier this year.

This is the first time the European Consumer Champion Award will be made and it is planned to have this as an annual event to mark European Consumer Day. The entrants from all 27 member states cover a wide range of topics, including misleading advertising, food information, air passenger rights, internet fraud and young consumers.
