Beer adverts fall flat

SO the price of Guinness products is set to rise yet again (February 20).

Beer adverts fall flat

No doubt this increase will go some way towards paying for the company’s ridiculous adverts. The parent company, Diageo, spends billions of euro every year on advertising. If you look at the company’s latest results you will see that marketing is credited with more than 15% of all European sales.

That would be fine if their adverts were entertaining or thought-provoking, but they are just absurd. As I watch my pint settle, it galls me to know that 67 cent worth of it pays for meaningless advertisements. That money could be better spent on a packet of nuts.
