Lifesavers thanked

LAST Sunday I was walking along a shopping street in Birmingham when a builder’s lorry suddenly started to roll down the street of its own accord.

I put my hand out to try to stop it while another man who was passing by jumped into the cab and pulled the handbrake.

That prompt action definitely saved lives as the road was steep and the lorry would have picked up speed quickly.

One of the men who helped stop the lorry told me he and his two mates were from Cork and that they would be flying home a few hours later after attending a stag party in the city. Unfortunately, I didn’t get their names.

I’m not from Brum, but I’d like to give them the recognition they deserve for such quick thinking.

I hope they had an enjoyable stay in England.
