Sacred cause

THE recent dispute about the selling of rosary beads in the precincts of St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin gives pause for reflection.

Sacred cause

I have no problem with the selling of the beads to our fellow Christians.

But what is scandalous is the necessity (as it appears) for the presence of cash registers in the holiest of our buildings. All governments have failed in their responsibility to protect the sacred heritage of the Church of Ireland in the Republic. If we can afford to send troops to Chad, we can surely provide public monies for the preservation of our great churches and cathedrals.
