Policy wobble

DEPUTY Ned O’Keeffe is apparently now opposed to the co-location of private hospitals on public lands (January 31).

Policy wobble

“I am opposed to co-location in principle” and “the thought of even putting a co-location hospital at CUH (Cork University Hospital) is bad planning. They should scrap the plans immediately”, he said.

If he is so opposed to these plans, why did he support co-location in the Dáil last February when he backed Mary Harney’s plans and voted for a proposal “to encourage private investment in new facilities on the campuses of public hospitals.”

Is Mr O’Keeffe saying one thing in Dublin and another thing in Cork? Or is this just his latest publicity stunt?
