Response to sword attack says a lot about the quality of our leaders
He has asked somebody to review current legislation on dangerous weapons “to see if it might need tightening up”. He might even consider asking people to have licences for such swords.
This is about the equivalent of the captain of the Titanic asking the first mate quietly to check that the lifeboats don’t have too many holes in them.
The sheer asinine vacuity of the reaction, with Mr Lenihan’s clear admission that he thinks perhaps the law doesn’t actually cover such incidents as things stand, speaks volumes for the quality of the people running our country.
