Sacking offence

ANTHONY LEAVY (Letters, January 18) can dress it up any way he wishes — the leaking of ANY individual’s private and personal correspondence with the Revenue Commissioners is a sacking offence. And rightly so. We are all entitled to the privacy afforded by the State in such matters.

Those who make use of ‘leaked’ information, for whatever purpose, are equally guilty of an offence. That it has been scurrilously used to blacken the Taoiseach’s reputation is surely reason enough to curtail what passes for fair play at the Mahon Tribunal.
