Rationalists want to see the evidence
The Irish Examiner deserves credit for providing a voice to both sides in this stimulating and important debate.
To rationalists, there really is only one question — the evidence question. I suspect most, if not all, rationalists would immediately accept the existence of a supernatural being if the evidence was there to support it.
However, it is not, and rationalists remain puzzled as to how the facts can so obviously be ignored.
On the other hand it appears the religious, at least on this topic, will never bend to reason because they cannot live without the hope that religion provides.
It matters not that the odds on religion being correct about the existence of God would make that single Lotto ticket in your pocket look like an odds-on certainty.
So where do we go from here then?
God knows!
