Ireland and the royals

I AM completing a book about the relationship between Ireland and the British monarchy, and I would be very grateful to hear from anyone with clear memories of how the abdication of Edward VIII in December 1936 and the coronation of George VI in 1937 were regarded in Ireland.

Ireland and the royals

I have researched the official records of the time, but as there were no opinion polls at this period I would very much like to know what the ā€œunofficialā€ attitude was to these events.

I would be grateful for any personal recollections, either named or anonymous, hostile or friendly.
