Protestants were left with a stark choice

IN his letter headlined ‘Protestants whose actions give the lie to sectarian war theory’ (December 3), Dr Brian P Murphy showed very impressive research.

However, he omits some pertinent facts.

The Protestant community was decimated throughout much of the country, post 1920.

Many of those with ‘pull’, or who were in positions of influence, stayed, but most felt they had two choices — remain as a silent minority or get to hell out of it. As with the Pearsons, the vast majority chose the latter course.
