Good deal — for some

A SPECIAL review body, known only to the Taoiseach, his cabinet and God knows who else, found it was fair, equitable and fully deserved to increase the salaries of politicians, senior civil servants and other senior State employees by up to €38,000 per annum.

I must accept that the members of this body, like Brutus, were honourable men — or women (Why do I feel they were men?). Now, perhaps it would be only right that this same review body should examine if it is fair, equitable and deserved that State pensioners should be paid €14 on top of their pensions of €209, or did Brian Cowen err and overpay us.
