SEX-TRAFFICKED women are frequently deported from Ireland rather than helped, the European Network Against Racism says.

Its annual report says that forced prostitution is a growing, but invisible, problem in many countries, including Ireland. But the victims often end up being further victimised by the authorities, according to the group, which represents more than 600 anti-racism NGOs throughout Europe.

In countries including Ireland and Britain these women are “freed” by police in high-profile raids that are frequently filmed.
