Get rid of ramps

WHY do we have so many ramps on our roads — even on main roads?

Travelling by bus in Dublin recently, I noted ramps the whole length of the Ballymun Road.

Where next? O’Connell Street? The M50? I’ve no problem with ramps in housing estates, but not on main roads. I know apologists for these hideous obstacles will say they deter boy-racers and joyriders, but they actually love revving up for the thrill of the ‘bump’ going over these ramps.

Is there any way to get rid of these ugly and dangerous eyesores from our main roads?
