One thing cancer victims don’t need

AS a member of a family affected by breast cancer, I am appalled at Keith Nolan’s cheap shot that “if these were cases of male breast cancer, the machines and systems would have been sorted out years ago” (Letters, November 9).

One thing cancer victims don’t need

I can only assume Mr Nolan is ignorant of the fact than men also suffer from breast cancer, but they have a poorer detection rate because it does not get the same prominence and often sufferers are too embarrassed to come forward for treatment of what is viewed by society as a female illness.

Cancer sufferers need resources and support — not cheap shots like this.
