Farm group’s hard line on land access

YOU report ICMSA president Jackie Cahill as saying (September 26) they would not enter further discussions unless there was a change in the law to guarantee “no dilution” of land ownership.

Farm group’s hard line on land access

This seems to be a hardening of an already confrontational stance by ICMSA in refusing to allow responsible access to the land.

In an obvious side-swipe at Keep Ireland Open (KIO), he refers to “those who couldn’t be bothered coming here today”.

KIO decided no useful purpose would be served by attending the seminar in question. The discussions to which Mr Cahill refers are the meetings of Comhairle na Tuaithe (Countryside Council).

It is from this body that we hope a solution will emerge to end to the scandalous denial of access to our national heritage for citizens and visitors alike.
