Old photo cuttings recovered between pages

A FEW months ago I purchased a book in the Irish Cancer Society shop on Castle Street, Cork.

Old photo cuttings recovered between pages

When I eventually got around to reading it the other night, I discovered that within its pages were two photo cuttings from old newspapers, one of which is from the Evening Echo of July 21, 1959. From the caption I can surmise that the other is from a Cork newspaper (possibly the Examiner) printed in 1960.

Both photos are of St Patrick’s NS hurling teams. There are certain names common to both photographs: T Horgan, D Leahy, B Geary, J McCarthy and B Conway.

Therefore, I can only assume that the person who donated the book and thus, unwittingly, the newspaper cuttings, to the Cancer Society is one of the above-named or is in some way related to one of them.

As I’m sure the photos in question are of sentimental value to whoever kept them for almost 50 years, I would be delighted to return them to their rightful owner.
