Unearned bonuses

THE HSE has mismanaged its budget to the point that they had to have a total ban on recruitment.

Imagine my surprise to learn afterwards that the CEO of the HSE is to get a bonus of €80,000 and that many managers in the HSE are in line for bonuses, too.

In the real world people get a bonus when they succeed or achieve something. When they make a mess of the finances to this extent, they sometimes lose their jobs. How can the HSE justify giving taxpayers’ money as bonuses to HSE staff in light of this appalling mismanagement.
