Better than soap

THE term “soap opera” should be removed from the English lexicon.

The acting in the TV series Fair City is of the Stanislavsky genre and is reminiscent of the style of our national theatre, the Abbey.

A very nice tribute was paid to the series by no less a personage than Senator David Norris when, in his Trinitarian tones, he declared: “I love the Dublin accent”.

We don’t always have to look across the Irish Sea or the Atlantic to find top-class stage or small screen performers and producers perfectly capable of mixing it with the best anywhere.
