Rights and wrongs

THE Taoiseach recently lent support to the campaign for homosexual marriage and adoption.

This proposal would give the same rights to homosexual couples as to married couples.

If this represents Fianna Fáil policy, it was not mentioned by them, or by the Taoiseach, in the course of the general election.

Mr Ahern would do well to bear in mind that the proposal does not have popular support. He might also bear in mind that local elections are only two years away, and people may not take kindly to being duped.
