Role model for future

I REFER to Ronan O’Brien and Niall Cronin’s comments on the Beál na Bláth commemoration (July 27).

That any eminent person, of whatever nationality, should admire Michael Collins enough to be prepared to speak at the commemoration is a tribute to Collins.

Filmmaker David Puttnam got his title for his services to the arts. If an English lord is unacceptable, would they accept a French marquis or a Spanish don?

IN reply to the objectors to David Puttnam’s presence at Béal na Bláth (July 27), all I can say is thank God the majority of people in this country are still not living in a cocoon like those two.

Build a bridge and get over it, I say.
