Taoiseach’s ‘dreadful apology’ did not help
How insensitive to tell people who crib or moan and do not agree with him that he cannot understand why they do not commit suicide.
Then came the dreadful apology when he was actually smiling and made light of his remarks.
Bertie Ahern appears to me to be compassionately challenged.
So many families have felt the pain of suicide this past year and have been deeply hurt by his remarks.
It is not so very long ago since another Soldier of Destiny, Jim McDaid, said people who committed suicide were “selfish bastards”.
