What will it take to divert the Tara road?
How many national monuments along the route of the M3 does it require to reverse this unprecedented insult to the legacy bequeathed to us by our ancestors?
The Lismullin discovery was obviously not adequate in the eyes of those whose job it should be to save Ireland’s treasures.
How many more ancient sites will be sacrificed to build this ill-conceived roadway?
Viable alternative routes were an option but never pursued. What a shameful display of cultural vandalism it is to allow the destruction of such a significant landscape, one now formally on the world list of endangered heritage sites.
I can only hope this sad course of action is halted and the Tara Valley left intact as the precious gift that it represents for all of us who respect our Celtic heritage.
