Jackie Healy-Rae includes the upgrading of the road between Rathmore and Killarney in his demands to ensure his support for the next government. This road is appalling and should, rightly, be a priority for improvement.

Resources to maintain this important tourist route into Kerry have been amiss for some time. One can’t help but wonder, however, given the finite resources available for road improvements in the county, if the transformation of Jackie’s native Kilgarvan into the best tarred village in Ireland has been at the expense of the rest of his constituency?
