The Big Top brought a splash of colour and well-groomed ponies

IT is interesting to see the circus being recognised as an art form with its own tradition (Irish Examiner, May 21).

I remember John Duffy & Sons and Fossett Brothers who visited every major town in the country for one day only.

Duffys had a circus field in major towns and their winter base in Dunmanway, Co Cork.
