Columnist as a political cynic

SEAN MONCRIEFF (May 23) was really the ultimate in cynicism about politics and politicians.

He showed total lack of civic consciousness, understanding of democracy and the right of members of the public, including politicians, to go from door to door to explain their particular political beliefs.

These canvassers, including myself, irrespective of Mr Moncrieff’s ignorant dismissal of us, engage with the public in debate about political life and ideas and endeavour to encourage others to do likewise.
