Power of hypocrisy

THE debate about the Taoiseach’s finances, though tiresome, has its interesting aspects.

There is nothing new in people in power trying to hide something fishy from the rest of us.

So we should not be surprised that ministers have been complaining bitterly that the plebs are getting access to information on what the powerful have got up to when they thought we were not looking. It’s all just hypocrisy.

Imagine the furore if the shoe were on the other foot and Kenny and Rabbitte were in the position that Ahern and McDowell are now in. The air would be blue with self-righteous denunciations.
