Power-sharing proof of commitment to peace
The presence of both the Taoiseach and the British prime minister is evidence of the commitment throughout these islands for a new era of peace.
It was also a tribute to the vision of Dr Brendan O’Regan, who founded the cross-border peace-building charity Co-operation Ireland in 1979.
We hope we can now move quickly in partnership with the Irish Government to establish a North-South consultative committee, tackle outstanding issues, and promote North-South social and economic cohesion.
We also hope for the establishment of more North-South budgets and infrastructure and a clear political framework for successful social partnerships.
