Double opportunity

PROPOSALS emerged recently to build a peace monument along the border and also to teach the national anthem in all our schools.

Perhaps the two ideas could be merged, ie, that the competition for a peace monument could also include a competition for new words for our national anthem to be taught in all our schools?

The debate and consultation required for both initiatives could in themselves make an important contribution to the understanding of what is required for the achievement of reconciliation on the island.
