Harney’s sad legacy

ONCE again your columnist Fergus Finlay (April 24) champions the cause of the weak and vulnerable by pointing out the underhand manner in which Health Minister Mary Harney is about to deprive people with disabilities in residential care of most of their earnings.

This is the same minister who is offering €210,000 per annum to the consultants who may treat some of these people from time to time.

As her term of office now grinds to a halt, surely Ms Harney’s greatest claim to fame as health minister will be that she stole from the poor to give to the rich.
