Climate change - It is time for governments to tackle crisis

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) approved its latest report at a five-day conference on the dangers posed by global warming.

The report, which was agreed by the conference in Brussels yesterday, addresses risks ranging from increased hunger to human extinction.

Scientists argue that up to 30% of the Earth’s species face an increased rate of extinction if global temperatures increase by an average of 2C. It is “a glimpse into an apocalyptic future,” a spokesperson for Green Peace warned.
