Behind the gloss

WHILE buying magazines to read on the Cork-to-Dublin the train recently, luckily I noticed the price of one before purchasing — €9.

Behind the gloss

How is that possible? Inflation has gone mad here. The magazine was American, and so the dollar/euro exchange and other cost factors are to be expected, but charging €9 has to be greed pure and simple.

When I lived in Germany, imported magazines were a little bit more expensive than the German ones, but not much.

There is no excuse for the extortionate prices of magazines here. It’s typical of so much of what is allowed to happen in this country?
