WITH regard to Cllr Michael Fahy’s recent conviction for fraud, I find Senator Michael Kitt’s defence of the embattled councillor baffling (Irish Examiner, March 22).

Judgement call

Cllr Fahy was convicted of fraud, attempted theft, deception and false accounting, yet Senator Kitt says it would not be fair for Galway County Council to debar him. In what circumstances, then, would the senator feel it appropriate to debar Cllr Fahy?
