A calm look at the nuclear option

ACCORDING to Mr Con Hayes (The Irish Examiner Letters, March 1). scientist Professor Philip Walton and engineer Frank Turvey, members of the Better Environment with Nuclear Energy group, face a “moral dilemma” in their advocacy of nuclear power as the solution to Ireland’s energy problems.

These eminent gentlemen may be right or wrong.

I am not convinced that nuclear power is the right answer for Ireland’s future energy needs — but their morality in promoting the nuclear option is hardly in question.
