The reality is that 90% of separating couples, at this sad point in their lives, will find it considerably more cost effective and dignity-preserving to hammer out the terms of separation rather than amass vast legal fees in order to play the Russian roulette that is family law in Ireland — as a result of the in-camera proceedings rules.

Family law is based on an adversarial system.
