I WAS disgusted when I read the article about the previously agreed all-Irish teacher training centre in Ballyvourney in Co Cork (Irish Examiner, January 10).

As reporter Niall Murray pointed out, work was supposed to start on the college in June 2000. Only now are we told the project may not go ahead.

The audacity of Education Minister Mary Hanafin is unreal. Ms Hanafin herself is a gaelgeóir and has presided over not only the above but also the reprehensible condition of many of the country’s gaelscoileanna. Yet the Government wants us to believe it is serious about our national language.
