Professional service at a lower premium

WE agree with everything Senator Paul Bradford said in his letter headlined ‘Ahern’s outrageous slur on BUPA’ (Irish Examiner, December 22).

As clients of BUPA for the past five years, we pay substantially less than VHI clients.

We pay averaged total premiums of 900 for both of us.

This is about 30% less than for those of similar age in VHI. BUPA has maintained an extremely professional attitude in all dealings with us, including prompt response to claims made.

Last year, BUPA made available a full, free physical examination for those aged 65 and over — this included a mammogram.

BUPA has been the best insurance experience we have ever encountered.

We will be extremely sorry if the Government does not see fit to make the insurance industry truly competitive for all companies involved.

We find, through personal experience, the Taoiseach’s statement that BUPA was “robbing old people” to be ridiculous and untrue.
