Stop blaming others for loss of good employer

AS an employee of BUPA Ireland, I was present last Monday morning to meet the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin, at the Grand Hotel in Fermoy, Co Cork.

After meeting, the minister decided not to meet the 300 employees of BUPA Ireland, family members and traders from the area, all of whom stood outside for two hours. Instead he opted for the side exit. Why do I feel hard done by?

The Taoiseach thinks we are in the business of “coddin” people, the Tánaiste thinks we’re playing games and the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment could not get his ministerial Merc out of Fermoy fast enough last Monday. It’s about time our Government took responsibility for its actions and stopped blaming others for the loss of an excellent employer and 320 jobs in north Cork.
