Wind power supporters blowing too much hot air?

TIM COWHIG of the Irish Wind Energy Association (IWEA) states (Irish Examiner, November 6) that “wind power is the only economic and viable option to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels”.

International experience would not appear to bear him out.

German wind turbines, with €1 billion in tax breaks, give power for as little as 36 days in the year, must be supplemented by fossil fuels and only benefit investors and industry-friendly politicians.
