Give equal rights to migrant workers

THE Irish Examiner (November 6) once again highlighted the plight of immigrant workers in Ireland — this time migrant women.

Give equal rights to migrant workers

It seems some of our employers have taken immigration as an opportunity to exploit women from other countries by working them to the bone and paying them a pittance.

Is this what the island of saints and scholars has become?

For a nation that has such a history of emigration itself, it is sad to see the experience of those who had to leave Ireland to forge a better future for themselves being swept aside so that a few greedy people can milk dry those who are less fortunate.

It is high time the Government took action to help these people and to enforce the same employment rights for migrants as a native working here enjoys.
