Government wins in housing rip-off

IT is hardly surprising that Finance Minister Brian Cowen is not keen ‘to interfere’ in the housing market.

Having made €3 billion in taxes from this lucrative business, it is little wonder that his Government refuses to help first-time buyers.

At the same time they peddle the myth that we live in a low-tax utopia, and, like fools, we swallow every word.

The housing market is really just a conduit for greed and avarice of the worst kind. The whole industry is as repulsive as it is divisive.

The entire population of the State would not match that of a London borough, yet a national government cannot come up with an equitable housing policy after 10 years in power.

Still, this complete lack of vision fails to make even a slight dent in their popularity.

Hopefully, the people with no property will put this to right at the next election.
