International Rules test should be banned

I WATCHED the so-called International Rules test delayed telecast from Croke Park here in Perth. It seems to me there were no rules.

As usual, we had the Aussie professionals giving the Irish amateurs a good thumping. There were more than 80,000 people in Croke Park and we had an Irish commentator saying, “Ah lads, sure these Aussies are so good, it’s men against boys”.

Is he looking for a job in Oz, or what?

There were great numbers of young people there and I’m sure there were many role models for them — role models who believe if you can’t win fairly, then kick the crap out of the opposition.

I’m sure the GAA and the AFL will beg to differ, saying it’s a great series. Of course they’d say that with millions of euro/Australian dollars involved. It’s time to call a halt to this debacle. All it is doing is fuelling hostility between two nations that have so much in common.

THE International Rules games are just an excuse for thuggery and should not be allowed in Croke Park or any other GAA stadium.
