Aviation fuel takes global warming to new heights, so why is it tax-free?

Aviation fuel takes global warming to new heights, so why is it tax-free?

This must be one of the best kept secrets of our time.

It prompts this question: is there any move within the European Parliament (or indeed elsewhere in the world) to encourage such a tax?

It would seem obvious that if we are to make any progress at all in tackling global warming, an initiative at European level is needed urgently to ensure aviation fuel is subject to taxation.
