WHILE fascinated with the current tussle for Aer Lingus, I see their CEO, Dermot Mannion, is keen to open new long haul routes and is flying three flights a week to Arabian Nights hotspots such as exotic Dubai.

The reported seat occupancy of these flights is 25%.

This winter he has cancelled one of the two weekly flights to my home island of Gran Canaria.
