Home and away: find a place by any other name

I HEAR the people of Antwerp are seeking to have the name of their town changed to Anvers so that the people who have been looking for this city from French-speaking areas of their country for generations will be able to find it.

The people of Firenze are also seeking a name change since English drivers looking for Florence have been found wandering hopelessly, though happily, through Tuscany.

And the people of Nice are seeking a change to Nissa/Nice to facilitate those poor Italian tourists looking for this city on the Cote d’Azur.

However, it is uncertain if the people of the ancient city of Aachen will go one up on our Kerry compatriots and name their town trilingually, Aachen/Aken/Aix-la-Chapelle.

It is not reported what is happening in establishments where guests are looking for Peking or Bombay Duck!
