Planning priorities

SOUTH Dublin County Council has rezoned an industrial site for high density apartments at the instant behest of a private company.

Recent residents’ submissions asking for community development, detailed school plans, green space for children and lower density were completely ignored, despite an undertaking by the council to consult more extensively.

Another Dublin council rezoned Dartmouth Square apparently in the interests of their community while, in Tallaght, local government facilitates developers and ignores the community.

It’s time for all political parties to update their local government policies in the light of the bizarre planning process in South Dublin County Council and elsewhere.
