New Ireland advocate deserves our support

JOHN ROBB (Irish Examiner letters, October 2) has worked tirelessly to promote his vision of a new Ireland.

But if he is to succeed in his aims, he needs more support from us in the Republic.

He certainly deserves it.

As an earnest of intent, I would suggest State support for the refurbishment and upkeep of St Patrick’s Cathedral (Church of Ireland) in Dublin and for the relocation of the national theatre, the Abbey, to the site of the Carlton Theatre in O’Connell Street.

We must practise openness to all our traditions before we can achieve it on an island-wide basis.
