An Post appointment - New boss will have his work cut out

COMMUNICATIONS Minister Noel Dempsey may have been almost gushing yesterday about the proposed new nationwide postcode plan, but there was very little said about An Post’s new chief executive.

The man who will be paid about €416,000, Donal Connell, is currently general manager of a hard disk manufacturer and is unknown to the public at large.

What is rather intriguing is that An Post was very reticent about informing the media about its new chief executive who was eventually selected for the very sensitive job, apart from denying it had been turned down by other senior figures.
