Sex, gambling and life’s simple pleasures

MARTIN FORD is against a new sex shop and casino in Sligo and seems to think sex is a bad thing (Irish Examiner letters, August 5).

It’s this kind of backward thinking that can lead to some people feeling guilty for enjoying the simple pleasures in life.

Does he not think these establishments could be of benefit to married couples who, he says, should be the only category of people allowed to have sex.

If people want to copulate and gamble, it is none of his business, but I’m sure he would have these casinos shut down if he could, thus denying people the kind of innocent enjoyment that seems to be a sin in his book.

As for his claim that this is a Christian land, he should take a look around him at all the different religions being practised here, as well as at all the atheists minding their own business.
